RUNNING FOR ANDREA 🏃🏻‍♀️

On Sunday 10th June i'm running the Hull Half Marathon for my amazing coursgeous gutsy friend ANDREA NICKLAS who i've nown for 28 years ( gosh where did that time go!) and whom I love dearly. Andrea has battled and BEAT breast cancer...or so we thought but sadly the gloves 🥊 are on again and this time for a much tougher fight!

In 2014 Andrea had a routine mammagram which scarily found a cancerous lump. She had a lumpectomy to remove this and on her yearly check up in 2015 they said she was clear with onky a tiny chance ut would come back. However she didnt want to take any risks and took the brave decision to have a double masectomy. Although she had a few scares the yearly check ups that followed in April 2016 & 2017 all came back clear so all seemed good but in Aug/Sept 2017 she found another lump! Sadly after tests and scans in Nov 2017 she was diagnosed with breast cancer again and so her fight continues.

Andrea has found great support and comfort from a wonderful charity at Castle Hill Hospital ran by Sarah Guest called Living with and Beyond Cancer which supports cancer patients/survivors through all stages of their illness.

Sarah also runs a cancer choir called The Positive Notes choir which has NO funding as it is not seen as a neccestiy so it keeps going purely by fundingraising i.e. by singing at events, tombolas, cake stalls etc...... It was started 4 years ago and meets once a week. It now has 25 members of which Andrea is one. Now I sing in a choir and have done for many years but if anyone had told me that Andrea would join a choir i'd have fallen off my chair😮!!!! but she has and she loves it. Andrea and the other choir members say that it helps them focus on something else, is great for confidence and self esteem, they all support each other but mainly they have a good laugh.

Andrea is funny, kind, gutsy, selfless, brave, determined and one of the most courageous people I know and throughout her whole battle has always kept positive, smiley and still been her usual sarcastic self 😜. She has an amazing husband Andy, amazing children and two lovely grandchildren. She is also one of few people i know that rocks a bandana but also looks amazing bald and i feel proud to run for her and her chosen charity next week.

So, please if you can afford anything at all please donate to this wonderful charity.

I have had to use a Crowdfunding page as the charity don't have the info I need to set up the usual page so the money will come to myself and then I pay them at the end so please put POSITIVE NOTES as your reference.

Many thanks
