Story
Bally Sev & Chris Lilley do the Mongol Rally!
The Mongol Rally is a wacky odyssey that is described as "the greatest motoring adventure on the planet". It will see us, as 'Team Prestige Worldwide', drive more than 10,000 miles through 20 countries across 2 continents whilst negotiating rough terrain, perilous mountain roads, dodgy border guards, language barriers, the desert and more! There is no set route and we will be completely unsupported. The best bit...we're doing it all in a car that is wholly unsuitable - a Fiat Punto.
We'll risk life and limb to raise money for two great causes. The charities we're supporting are ICM - The Brain & Spine Institute and Cool Earth.
ICM - The Brain & Spine Institute
ICM - The Brain & Spine Institute, co-founded by Michael Schumacher, is an international research centre which specialises in developing treatments for neurological and psychiatric disorders. It brings together patients, world leading Doctors, Researchers and Scientists from all backgrounds in the hope to cure disorders of the brain and spinal cord, making it the only institute of its kind in the world.
Neurological diseases affect 1 in 8 people worldwide with conditions such as Alzheimer's, Epilepsy, Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis, Brain Tumours and Paraplegia to name only a few and with the aging of the population; this figure will increase to 1 in 3 by 2050.
Prevent, cure, care for patients with these diseases that affects ONE BILLION people worldwide is our challenge; a challenge that we can only overcome with everyone's support.
Cool Earth
Cool Earth - the event organisers chosen charity - is a UK based non-profit charity that protects endangered rainforest in order to combat global warming, protect eco-systems and to provide employment for local people.
Cool Earth has worked with over a hundred rainforest villages in Peru, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Papua New Guinea, Brazil and Ecuador. The provision of resources for these areas and the charity's ongoing work enables the building of sustainable livelihoods, better education, better healthcare and the empowerment of indigenous communities to protect their rainforest land.
Since 2007, Cool Earth has saved 901,679 acres of forest, protected 216,402,960 trees, stored 234,436,540 tonnes of C02 and produces 68,527,604,000 litres of water every year.
Your contribution will help continue ICM's and Cool Earth's ground-breaking work and make a difference in the world.
Please, dig deep! Your support is greatly appreciated! Thank you.
