I've raised £4000 to Establish the Friends of Miskito Freedom Organisation

As many of your know, here in Nicaragua, I am living and working with the Miskito people on their land rights and governance. My husband and partner in crime Juan Carlos and I are starting an organisation to organise the communities that are being inundated by invasions by illegal cattle ranchers and start a political, peaceful, rights-based movement to bring the situation under control, gain legal title, and start sustainable community-managed agroforestry and ecotourism initiatives that promote forest restoration, wildlife conservation and social justice.
There are many international funds these days that support this type of activity but first we need to create an inclusive, representative Non-Governmental Organisation. We have more than 50 different communities signed up to join the organisation, across 17 different territories and 3 different Indigenous Peoples: Miskito, Mayagna & Rama, and an Assembly planned to launch the organisation at the end of February 2018. The purpose of the Assembly is to set the mision, vision, objectives and work plan of the Organisation, and elect the Board members.
Any and all small donations make a huge difference when converted into Nicaraguan pesos. Thank you so much for reading this message until the end and thank you so much for any intention to help.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Or Tinky Pali in Miskito.
Best wishes for a happy Christmas time and prosperous New Year.
lots of love, Vanessa. Xxxx
