Story
BAHASI is a children's home near Bangwe, Malawi for children affected by HIV/AIDS providing them with a place to live and an access to education. We also run a number of programs to help support the wider community such as a women's program, a home-based care program and a pre-school.
We are currently trying to raise £50,000 so we can buy BAHASI a bus that will transport the 43 children living here to and from school as well as to be able to take them swimming on Saturdays.
Currently due to the fuel crisis in Malawi getting the children at BAHASI into school is one of the main issues we’re facing as a project. Due to this some of our children are unable to get to school which impacts their education.
We pay an amount of MK80,000 during the weekdays and MK40,000 on weekends including MK4,000 for lunch delivery.
The current hired bus (which can be seen in the above photo) is too small so is against road regulations as the bus is at least double its capacity. Additionally, this hired bus is not dropping off or picking up the children on time as it runs extra businesses during the free time.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and considering donating, if you feel you’d be able to help BAHASI another way please feel free to contact us.
