Story
On June 1st this year I gave birth to our identical twin girls Primrose and Betsy by emergency C section. The girls were born at just 29 weeks and weighed 1lb 13oz and 2lb 11oz. They were rushed straight to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the QMC in Nottingham where the amazing doctors and nurses did everything in their power to give our girls a fighting chance. It is not a situation you ever expect to find yourself in and it is not until you are there that you see the miracles that these healthcare professionals do everyday. Very sadly, our little girl Primrose was just too small and too poorly and passed away in my arms at just 5 days old. The NICU team were fantastic and supported us and our families through this most difficult time.
Betsy spent 6 weeks in NICU being cared for 24 hours a day and we were delighted when on July 14th she came home to join her two older sisters.
We cannot thank the staff enough for the care, love and respect they showed to both our babies and our families. We would like to raise some money to help the NICU continue their fantastic work and to support families who find themselves in a similar situation.
I have been lucky enough to travel in my life and am acutely aware of the fact that access to healthcare can vary vastly depending on the country in which you live. I am more than aware that had we found ourselves in a similar situation, somewhere other than the UK, somewhere without a National Health Service, the outcome for us could have been very different. I could have lost both my babies and my own life and we will forever be grateful that we live in a country where we have access to this privilege.
Having spent a year travelling around Africa, it is a place held dear in my heart. A school friend of mine runs a charity Love, Support, Unite in Malawi and we would also like to raise money to support their work with mothers and babies in this area.
We would like to raise money for these two important causes in memory of our baby girl, our little fighter, our precious Primrose.

6 years agoA huge thank you to everyone who has supported Primrose's Project so far. We are overwhelmed by everyone's generosity and are pleased to announce that we have doubled our original target of £500 and have now raised over £1000 in memory of our baby girl. We know there are some more fundraising projects going on such as Christmas card collections, cake sales and a big New Years Day Walk which we will post more details on soon. Many thanks for your ongoing support xx
