I've raised £10000 to take #projectendstigma from concept to charity. We want to help shatter the stigma of mental health, self harm & suicide.

In May 2017 I tried to take my own life. I tried to hang myself and the only reason I am able to write this is a poorly selected branch. Now that statement is hard for people to read. Not because it doesn't happen but because we don't talk about it. Talking about mental health and suicide has so much stigma even though suicide is the biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK. Despite all the horrible diseases we could contract, accidents we could be in or potential ways we could kill each other, we’re still killing ourselves more frequently than any of those things.
I have battled with Anxiety and Depression for many years now and like so many others I never spoke about it. It baffles some people when I say the day I tried to make my last was actually the first day of the rest of my life. Since that horrible day my entire perspective on life has changed and this is where you come in. I have spent everyday since then talking about my story and fighting to shatter the stigma around mental health, suicide and self harm. I am hoping to raise £10,000 to turn #projectendstigma into a fully registered charity. This money would allow me to hold events around Britain for schools and universities as well as local communities to get people talking. I started #projectendstigma with my wife and it's time to get this talked about as freely and as openly as possible. It's time to start a movement and leave a culture for generations to come that will saves lives.
