Hello Everyone, Thank you for visiting my page!

Until today, in my country Uganda many children walk to school barefooted not because they want to but because their parents cannot afford to buy a pair of shoes! (this is un believable to those who have never been in Uganda) This is due to financial constraints with in their families and the country at large since our country is third world and ranked among the poorest countries in Africa and in the world. Many of them have never had a chance to own a pair of shoes yet they travel long distances from home to school. Because of the above, Gary and Betty Foster Medical Centre has always strived to make a difference in the different rural communities of the country by providing quality health care, providing community sensitisations about sexual and reproductive health, providing entreprenueral skills to women and youths who dropped out of school as well as reaching the needy.

We have had so many cases of infections at the clinic among children due to walking bare footed , some have lost their toe nails, been deeply pierced buy rusty sharp objects, affected by jiggers, have rotten foot, and thus some miss school when they cannot walk yet such circumustances at times affects their cognitive development and enventually their class performance is also affected. some of the children in landing sites have reported with cases of bilharzia as a result of stepping in feaces and dirty water.

Since some of these children are in child headed families, helping their elders who are school dropouts with enterprenuer skills will help improve their accessibility to employment oppourtunities, job creation and they will be able to take care of their little relatives. We already started a bakery project and we have witnessed a change in some homes where the elders are employed and able to pay school fees for their young brothers and sisters.
