I've raised £5000 to protect our 31 reserves from fire and manage them during a time of unprecedented pressure

Last night (26th April) there was a fire at Ipstones Edge Nature Reserve.
Fires are a major threat to wildlife, and this April has been amongst the driest on record.
Fortunately thanks to the fast action of local fire services and our reserves team the fire’s spread was contained.
Our Agrocat and flail were used to cut a firebreak and the damage has been limited to 1.5 acres. We are still assessing the impact on wildlife.
The equipment used to fight the fire was purchased as part of an appeal following the devastating fire at The Roaches in 2018.
Local wildlife needs more fire protection. Please give now to help protect all of our invaluable reserves from fires and from a period of unprecedented pressure.
It is not just fires that cause damage. Thousands of people enjoyed and sought solace in the beautiful countryside and our stunning 31 nature reserves across Staffordshire during the past 12 months.
But these places which we want to be havens for wildlife and for nature lovers to enjoy have had a lot of pressure placed on them. There has been a huge increase in vandalism, motorcycles riding across our land, fly-tipping, littering and disturbance to wildlife recently – placing pressure on our conservation team whose resources and time are stretched as a result.
Any donation, however small, will help. Please give now and help us protect our nature reserves across Staffordshire.
£20 could pay for an hour of our warden's time patrolling a reserve
£90 could pay for 10 litter pickers for volunteers to help keep our reserves clean & tidy
£250 could pay to empty one dog poo bin each year. (freeing up our staff to work on conservation projects).
£450 could pay for one large skip to remove fly tipping
Many of our nature reserves are fragile places, and we know most people love and respect these wild spaces – including you – but with so many more visitors we need your help to protect the sites and encourage good behaviour.
We’re raising money to help us increase our resources to defend and repair our reserves against things like vandalism, anti-social behaviour and wildlife habitats being damaged as a result.
Any donation, however small, will help. Please give now and help us protect our nature reserves across Staffordshire.
Thank you for your continued support.
