Adam Gray, an employment lawyer who Ken recruited whilst at Provident Financial, and who left to join Barclays, has just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer (stage 4). Adam is only 32 and his wife has just given birth to their first child, Amelie, who is only 6 weeks old. Adam is in a positive frame of mind given the circumstances and determined to fight this disease, and is trying to defy the medical advice about his life expectancy. Key to this fight for survival is access to alternative medical treatment which is expensive and not readily available through the NHS. Part of his fund raising campaign includes a 5 mile run in York on 18 January and this is where we come in. A Provident team comprising ten or so of his former colleagues will run the 5 miles, with Adam, who is intending to walk the last mile with his fundraisers.
