The Provost’s Christmas Appeal 2025 – Making a difference for local families
Supporting communities is what many of us do every day but there is one time of year that going that little further can make a huge amount of difference to those who are really facing up to challenging times.
Over the past few years, employees have made a big difference to local families by donating a few pounds to the Provost’s Christmas Appeal that has raised thousands for those really in need locally.
Contributions went towards putting a Christmas meal on the table or providing small gifts that can mean a lot to those who do not have much.
Provost Robert Bissett said:
We’ve raised thousands over the years and while many of us are considering how we will celebrate Christmas this year, there will be many families in our local communities that will see this as a struggle.
The point of the appeal is straight forward – please donate what you can and share with colleagues and friends so that small contributions can be made that will genuinely help make those less fortunate enjoy a more comfortable Christmas.
I want to thank everyone in advance of this year’s appeal and sincerely hope we can all help to make this a giant success.
How it works
Our Social Work teams work with partners in the third sector to ensure children and families in greatest need get support through the appeal.
Monies raised will pay for a range of gift cards, purchased by Social Work and distributed to families to help them buy gifts, food and other items unique to their situation.
