    Story

So, we are in the very fortunate position that our children are about to embark on a trip to Hong Kong (in October 2018). This amazing opportunity has come about thanks to their wonderful primary school, Preston Street Primary. Eight children will be travelling to Hong Kong to spend a week on a cultural and educational exchange. They will spend three days in a school in Hong Kong, fully immersed in their education system. As learning ambassadors, they will then be tasked with bringing back what they have learned to their school to share with the rest of the school community. Later in the year children from our partner Yau Ma Tai Primary School will be able to enjoy the wonders of Edinburgh when they arrive for a reciprocal visit

This is the second year that this trip has happened. It proved to be an amazing experience for the children who went last year, as well as being hugely beneficial to the whole school as it challenged some of the thinking particularly around the maths curriculum. The school has incorporated much of what they learned last year, which has already impacted on attainment in maths, throughout the school.

The children are determined to work hard to raise as much money as possible towards the cost of the trip. It has been central to the thinking behind this trip that it has been offered to EVERY child in Primary 7. For this reason we are asking for your generous support to help to bring the cost down as much as possible.

We will be doing a number of fundraising events throughout the year and will let you know as and when they come up. Already car boot sales and a number of sponsored litter picks have been carried out. We will focus on the areas around our homes, school, and local community. Later it is highly likely that the adults will be asking for sponsorship as they undertake a series of sporting events for which most are entirely unprepared and unqualified!!!

Thank you everyone, for your generous support.
