Story

Madagascar is one of the poorest countries on the planet with nearly half of their population under the age of 15 years old. They are facing huge challenges in education and training, around 1.5 million children within the age of going to school are out-of-school and only 3 out of 10 children finish primary school.

This is the case in rural Madagascar but also in the poorer neighbourhoods in the larger cities. This projects aim is to intervene through the use of sports which will allow the opportunity to communicate more directly with national authorities, demonstrating the efficiency of this type of project in the main cities which will then allow it to be replicated nationally.

Sport in Madagascar is one of the main activities that young people participate in during their free time. Sport can teach qualities such as: respect, creativity, sportsmanship, resilience, confidence, loyalty, mutual assistance, courage and perseverance. These values are all common in both Sport and School. By teaching children these qualities there will be fewer school drops outs which will allow children a stronger base to build their future on. By participating in mixed gender sports it also teaches them gender equality and respect.

The money that we raise will help this project to reach a greater audience and encourage more children to be involved within sport which in turn should reduce school drop outs, resulting in stronger, more educated communities for future generations.
