Story

Due to COVID-19, our walk is delayed but will go ahead! We'll keep you posted!

We are raising money for the Physiotherapy department in Angus to purchase exercise equipment for their Pulmonary rehab (PR) class. James Wiggins (Prosthetist) and his brother David (Engineer), intend to complete the West Highland Way (96miles) in as few days as possible (our aim is 3 days) using bothies or wild camping for sleeping, no cushty hotels so all sponsor money goes to the Physio team in Angus!

Pulmonary rehab is an invaluable class for those who suffer from longterm lung conditions. The better it is supplied, the better the patient experience will be. Here are some figures from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists about Pulmonary Rehab.

Results in a reduction of 1/3 exacerbations (a sudden worsening of symptoms) in this patient population. This equates to 150,924 fewer exacerbations, freeing up this number of appointments in primary care:

26,633 avoided hospital admissions

106,532 fewer hospital bed day** PR saves money.

Helps to prevent loneliness and isolation.

Help us by donating anything you can to this worthy cause.

Thank you!
