Story
People have asking about donations, and it’s honestly touched us more than we can say. It’s made us think about Phil, who he was, what he loved, and what would feel right to do in his name.
If you knew Phil, you’ll know he wasn’t just from Rainhill, he was part of it. He’d talk about it with that big smile and call it “God’s little acre” like it was the best place on earth. And to him, it was. He loved the people, the community and the familiar faces.
And then there were his bike rides. Those weren’t just a hobby, they were his thing. His Wednesday mornings prepping for the annual charity bike ride - the skipper of the group . You’d see him out and about, doing his miles, waving at everyone like he had all the time in the world.
Some of the lads are now doing a charity bike ride for him, and it feels so right. It feels like something he’d smile at, something he’d be proud of, something that fits him perfectly, and especially something he’d do for others. They have asked for us to think about what we’d like the bike ride to raise money for. We wanted to do something that gives back to the places and people he cared about. Something that feels like him.
If we were to raise money for anything, we’d like to get portable defibrillators for the lads to take on their bike rides — something that could genuinely help keep them all safe doing the very thing he loved.
We would also like to add a bench at Rainhill United’s football fields, a place where grandparents and families can sit, watch, and be part of those little moments that matter. The kind of moments he never took for granted.
If you choose to donate, thank you. Truly. Your kindness helps us create something positive and lasting in his name, something that keeps a bit of him in the places he loved most.
