The QEGS Physical Education Faculty is organising a charity ‘Race for Life’ Fun Run that we would like you and your family to get involved with. The annual QEGS event is a traditional end of term whole school activity where we encourage all members of the school to participate in running and enjoy exercising at various times of the day. The importance of encouraging an active lifestyle by eating well and exercising regularly is a common theme that is stressed to all pupils. A donation is then made towards the ‘Children with Cancer UK’ & ‘Breast Cancer Now’ charitable causes.

This year, we are looking to once again host a similar exercise event for all pupils across the school and for you as members of the QEGS community, to join us in taking part in some exercise from home at various times of the day.

The ambition is for you to run or walk 1 mile either individually or collectively as a family. You can exercise as much as you wish and hopefully will do more than just the one mile! We are looking to post images and short video clips throughout the day to encourage others to take part and to show the QEGS community doing its ‘exercise best’. Photos and videos should be in landscape mode and posted to gavery@qegsblackburn.com The video clip should be no longer than 10 seconds. By sending your photos and videos, you are giving consent for these to be used on social media.

Timings for the day are as follows but run & walk whenever you can. Images & video clips will be posted onto the social media platforms as soon as we get them.

10.00am: Nursery – sponsored walk with key worker pupils

11.00am Primary Phase pupils & staff

12noon: Year 7 & 8; key worker pupils; form tutors & staff

1.00pm: Year 9, 10 & 11; form tutors & staff

2.00pm: Sixth Form; form tutors & staff
