I've raised £500 to help fund the Quainton Community Beacon

Plans continue towards Quainton's participation in the national WW1 Beacons of Light Tribute, on the 11th November, where we commemorate and remember 100 years since the end of such a terribly dark period in our history.
After such a successful beacon lighting, for the Queens 90th, we're extremely proud to be asked again and will participate with a more fitting beacon. This will now be known as the Quainton Community Beacon.
Hot from the blacksmith's forge, the new beacon basket will be on display during the Royal British Legion fund raising event at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre on the 10th June. Subject to necessary approvals, the basket, along with post and base, will stand proudly, on Mill Hill, for a few weeks either side of the 'Battle's Over' beacon lighting event. This will be similar to the beacon that some of you might have visited on Dunstable Downs, which sits outside the National Trust visitors centre.
Following its first use it will then move to the station and await the marking of the next major national or local event. In time we hope the beacon will become a significant point of interest for the village and a true asset.
As this is a community project we are also looking for help with funding and general volunteering as we still have lots to do. You can show your support, for this historic structure, by donating here.
