Story

Cardiac arrest in football has been starkly brought into light during the current Euro 2020 competition.

The FA are currently offering football clubs the opportunity to purchase defibrillators at a discounted cost of £900 (£750 plus VAT), nearly half their usual cost. We already have defibs at all the central training venues, and at all of the match venues for the younger players.

However, as we progress to the older age groups, these teams play matches at other venues, and sometimes defibs are not available. The club has 3 portable defibs already, one recently donated by a very generous supporter of the club, but ideally we should have more - one for each team that plays elsewhere. The risk of cardiac arrest is an issue likely to impact coaches and parent spectators, as well as our players.

Queensgate Football Club seek to raise funds for 3 new defibrillators as soon as possible, to take advantage of the FA offer, and invites support from our community, supporters and players. We are asking all of our players to consider a sponsored 5k run or walk to help us raise funds through this page, but any donation would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you.

Fiona - Club Secretary (on behalf of the QFC Committee)
