Support Queen’s Rowing Club on the Road to Henley Royal Regatta

This year, Queen’s Rowing Club is aspiring to send a squad of 31 dedicated student athletes to compete at the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta.

Henley is one of the most iconic events in world rowing — a stage where tradition, excellence, and determination meet. For our students, it represents not only months (and years) of relentless training, early mornings, and personal sacrifice, but the opportunity to compete against some of the best crews from across the UK and beyond.

Why We Need Your Support

Competing at Henley comes with significant costs, including:

- Boat transport and equipment logistics

- Accommodation for the squad

- Entry fees

- Training expenses in the lead-up to the regatta including competing at Henley Womens Regatta and Marlow Regatta

As a student club, we rely heavily on fundraising to make opportunities like this accessible to all our athletes. Our goal is to raise £8,000 to ensure that every member of our 31-strong squad can attend and compete without financial barriers. The overall cost of this is £24,000 and we are aiming to raise a third of this through fundraising to reduce the financial burden on students.

About Queen’s Rowing

Queen's University Belfast Boat Club has a proud history of developing committed, resilient student athletes. Our rowers balance demanding academic schedules with an intense training programme, representing Queen’s with pride, sportsmanship, and ambition. Over the last decade our membership numbers have multiplied, and we now have a squad with the potential to be competitive across multiple events.

Queen's University Belfast Ladies Boat Club (QUBLBC) has never had the opportunity to send a crew to HRR, and this year we hope to send 2, an academic 8+ and academic 4x, this will be a historical moment for the club and is testament to the work and dedication of the Ladies club members since its beginning in 1973.

On the mens side, we are hoping to field a competitive Prince of Wales 4X, Temple Challenge 8+, and Prince Albert 4+. Which shows the growth of the club as we have never had 3 crews in the same regatta.

Henley is more than just a regatta — it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many of our athletes and a chance to showcase Northern Irish rowing on an international stage.
