Story

6th June 2024 was the eightieth anniversary of the D-Day landings.

To commemorate this event, we planned to make eighty single bed sized patchwork quilts for donation to veterans in the local area.

We raised over £4000 and made 109 quilts.

We enjoyed it so much that we decided to just keep going, and set up as a proper not-for-profit to support this.

If you are local to Sheffield, you would be welcome to join us on a making day. If not, but you would still like to do some sewing, you can send us your completed quilt, or even a quilt top, which we can back and bind for you. The quilts we will be making will be 135cm by 200cm / 52" x 78", but you are welcome to donate a quilt of any size. All quilts must be cotton, please, so that they will stand laundry. A majority of the veterans are likely to be male, so you may want to keep that in mind when selecting your fabrics.

Alternatively, if you would like to donate some fabric, or make a financial donation towards materials, both would be gratefully received.

We are planning to update regularly with details of upcoming events and progress towards our goal.
