Story

Hi everyone! Thank you for taking the time out to read my story.

This January, I will be departing to Banjul with a De Montfort University delegation of academics and students to explore the impacts of globalisation on cultural competencies, gathering a practical comprehension of the resources required for a sub-saharan African nation to adapt in our ever-increasingly competitive global market.

The delegation is being hosted by the Leicester-based community interest company, "Global Hands," that have initiated much charitable work in the Gambia ranging from vocational training programmes to school building. Global Hands organises bi-annual field trips to the Gambia, providinging an opportunity for students in higher education to apply theory on practice taken place through placements in their Manduar Development Hub.

The Manduar Development Hub functions as a training centre for Gambian young people, my goal is to support them by raising £200 for further programme resoures, classroom facilities and library services provided by the hub. The village of Manduar is in a poverty stage, and the hub contributes significantly to the community's economic development. I will also be taking part in Global Hand's annual #Run4Africa, a 5k fun-run that will develop an Education Trust Fund to support underpriviledge children in Manduar.

My goal is to defeat the cycle of poverty, and help developing countries adapt to the 21st century. Any support is deeply appreciated!
