Story

Hello all

The original story has changed a bit as many of you know as I fell and broke both my wrists on day 9 of the challenge. Unfortunately I had to have surgery on both wrists and plates and screws placed in both that left me out of action for a week or so.

As such I have had to change my plans a little but but the aim is to fulfil the spirit of the challenge and walk one million steps - but over 31 selected days where I will have the time to do it. This of course means the challenge won't be completed in March but hopefully by the end of April as I am now back walking, albeit a bit more slowly with the 2 pots on.

I have been overwhelmed by the support I have received so far and that is why I am determined to carry on. The memorial garden idea is something that means a lot to me and that is always going to be my inspiration, even when things get a bit tough.

Thanks so much again and please continue to support me. There will be a collection some time but that date may change now and I will update you as and when I know.

ORIGINAL STORY

Between March 2nd and April 2nd I am aiming to walk one million steps, roughly 460 miles (or roughly 16 miles a day), to raise money towards the building of a memorial garden at Morecambe Football Club's Memorial Stadium.

The Memorial Garden was first discussed a couple of years ago and pre Covid by the Shrimps Trust and is something that would be a fantastic addition to the club and the community. It will be a place where people can honour and remember their loved ones and a place for reflection.

I am no athlete but have time off in March to undertake this challenge - and it will be a challenge I can assure you - as I really want to support this great cause which is fully supported by the Club.

But as well as raising money for the garden project I will be putting in dates where people can join me and just have a walk and meet up. The last year has taught me about the importance of friends, meeting people and looking after your own health and wellbeing. I will advertise the dates on here and on social media and would love to see as many people as possible to help me chalk up the miles and just have a chat.

Any amount of sponsorship, large or small, will be a massive help to this cause. I will keep everyone updated of my progress on social media with pictures and posts. The club has also agreed to host a collection at the forthcoming home game on April 2nd against Oxford to help the cause.

I would like to thank everybody for their support - every donation will be gratefully accepted.

Many thanks.

Quinny
