Story
We’re raising £2,000 to support our Newtownabbey Racers athletes as they prepare to compete at the 2026 Special Olympics Ireland Summer Games in Dublin.
Six of our athletes have been selected to represent Ulster this June. For each of them, this is a big deal.
Some were once told they might never walk. Some have battled confidence for years. Others have had to push past barriers most people never see. Every single one of them has overcome something to get to this point.
This isn’t just about racing on a track. It’s about belief. It’s about growth. It’s about standing on a start line that once felt impossible.
We see the work behind the scenes — the determination, the friendships, the courage. To watch six of our athletes step onto a national stage is incredibly special for our whole club.
Some families are fundraising individually for their athlete. This page is for anyone who would prefer to support the wider team and contribute towards shared Games costs.
Funds raised will help with travel, accommodation and Games-related expenses for our athletes and volunteer coaches. All donations go directly into the Newtownabbey Racers club account.
As we celebrate our 20th anniversary year, we remain a volunteer-led club built on inclusion and community. Any funds raised beyond Games costs will go towards keeping our sessions running — from facility hire to equipment — so every athlete continues to have a place to belong.
If you’d like to support these athletes on their journey to Dublin, we would be truly grateful.
