    Story

At 39 years old, Matt discovered he had cancer, following emergency admission to A&E after suffering abdominal pains. Shortly after admission, Matt was told he had to undergo immediate surgery to remove a large tumour from his bowel or die.
Having undergone the emergency surgery, he awoke to be told a section of his bowel had been removed and that he had cancer.
An emotional and lonely journey of hospital visits and tests ensued and it was swiftly established that the cancer had spread to his liver and lung.
Despite initial chemotherapy treatments showing positives signs of reducing the size of the tumours, the NHS informed Matt that they had exhausted the treatment available through the NHS. Matt looked for a number of second opinions from two other leading NHS hospitals; one of which was the Royal Marsden who also advised him that they were unable to help him.
After the shock of being told he would have 6-12 months to live, Matt set about researching other cancer treatments and clinical trials that could help treat his cancer.
Whilst clinical trials could be considered, unfortunately no trials for colorectal cancer where available. This left Matt with no other option than an individually tailored private treatment, involving the combination of ground breaking Immunotherapy treatment and the production of a vaccine, specific to Matt's cancer.
Matt was able to fund the initial treatment at a private clinic in Germany and within the first couple of visits, the tumours on his liver had reduced by 30%; however, the cost was significant at £30,000. Continuing to fund this level of treatment himself is just not sustainable.
Future treatment requires a further £120,000.

Matt has now shown no disease progression for 8 months and the tumors have reduced by 70%. This is proof the treatment Matt is receiving is working, but we still have a long way to go.

Any donation, no matter how small, will help Matt access this treatment.
    Thank you.
