I've raised £5000 to support the Rock Zone Foundation cancer charity in Dave's memory

Cancer doesn't have a face until it's yours or someone you know.
Cancer is an ugly word with a scary meaning but it's not until you are faced with it, you realise what super powers you have to kick its arse.
Dave and I set up the Rock Zone Foundation to support people with cancer. We focus on the fight and not the fright. We raise awareness and I say this as loud as I can. If you feel something is wrong or not right with your body, GET CHECKED. Don't be afraid or leave it too late. You know your own body more than anyone.
As a family, we are heartbroken and trying to come to terms with losing Dave last week. But his strength through his cancer battle is the inspiration that keeps us going, and we are proud to be able to carry on the wonderful work Dave has done through his Rock Zone Foundation charity. We hope through Dave's charity work and his heart-breaking story, that we can help other people who are affected by cancer.
Dave was a loving dad, devoted husband and a treasured friend who has done so much for people over his short 51 years, including raising thousands for cancer charities himself.
In June 2020, devastatingly, our world was turned upside down when Dave was diagnosed with a brain tumour (a progressive right temporal glioblastoma).
He underwent surgery and aggressive treatment and in November he was so excited to ring the bell to celebrate the end of his radiotherapy, but unfortunately not the end of the tumour.
After lots of chemotherapy, sadly it stopped working, Dave’s health and mobility deteriorated so much over such a short space until he was confined to his bed. There was nothing more the NHS could do for Dave.
It was heart-breaking to watch our larger-than-life, fit and healthy dad and husband be overcome by this dreadful disease, but we were given some hope.
Dave had a chance to undergo potentially life-saving treatment as part of a research study in Texas at a cost of £200,000. The crucial research project could have saved Dave's life as well as so many other lives too. After receiving this really positive news we set up this fundraising page in the hope to start raising funds for Dave's treatment.
Sadly, Dave lost his battle with cancer on Saturday 19th June before we could begin the fundraising campaign, and now as a family we are supporting each other through the most unimaginable sadness.
Dave was a larger than life character who was loved by so many people. Before his diagnosis, he was a well known tattoo artist in Derby with a passion for rock music.
Over the years he had collected a huge range of rock memorabilia. He decided to start selling his collection to raise funds for local cancer patients and has sold items all over the world.
We're going to continue Dave's legacy through the Rock Zone Foundation, supporting the fighters, admiring the survivors, honouring the taken and never ever giving up hope.
We're so grateful for anything you can donate to help give other cancer patients the super power to kick cancer's arse.
Thank you
Lisa
