    Story

    Hello
Thank you for taking time to read and hopefully donate.
We are the Gilmore family. We found out in July 2015 that we were having identical twins(complete shock) after told i could no longer have children. The hospital made us aware of risks that could occur during the pregnancy at the start. This is due to the girls being identical. This means the girls shared a sac and placenta.
The main risk in this type of pregnancy is TTTS Syndrome. They explained this could occur at anytime thought pregnancy. We had a scare at 16 weeks but at 18 all balanced out. At 19 weeks our Alexia was showing early signs of TTTS. Our amazing specialist consultant St Mary's Manchester referred us to Birmingham Women's Hospital, to see if we could have treatment to help our girls. Unfortunately Alexia as we named her passed away within two days from seeing our consultant.
The news was devastating and rare from an early stage of TTTS. I had to still carry the girls together due to them sharing a sack and placenta till Elise was born.
I had lots of brain scans and weekly scans at St Mary's to see how Elise was coping and to see if the TTTS had effected her brain. I was then forwarded for an MRI at sheffield to confirm her brain was fine.
Elise brain was not affected and the scans showed that everything was fine with Elise. We had been going for weekly scans and the consultant said she was that confident Elise was well to go onto four weekly scans.
Four days later early house of 20/09/2015 my placenta gave way at home.
Amazing ambulance rushed to hospital home to born in 20 minutes.
We held Alexia and said goodbye for now, and Elise was rushed to NICU unit.
She spent three months in NICU (amazing doctors and nurses).
We have chosen a twin incubator as they didn't have one. We would have wanted our girls together to fight.
I'm attempting a Half Marathon at Tatton Park on 20/11/2016, with Nicky and Andrea.
Fighting for future NICU babies, and our Girls. xx
    Thank you
