Story
I’ve created this JustGiving page with a heavy heart, for a very close family friend’s son. A lot of you know or have heard of Dicky Jones due to his work in the community, most recently because he founded ‘Best Of Basingstoke’ during the 2020 lockdowns, where he got a small group of us to help him prepare and deliver food parcels across the Basingstoke area to families in need, and helping the community in any way he could.
Now I’m asking for us all to pull together to help Dicky’s son Troy. Troy was attacked and seriously injured by a group of males on Friday 7th May 2021. The police weren’t called until 4am, when he was found at Winchester train station, over 5 hours after the attack. I can’t explain how heart-breaking it was to hear that he was alone, fighting for his life. As a parent myself, it’s terrifying.
Troy is currently in ICU with life changing injuries, I will update the page of Troy’s condition as and when the family find it appropriate.
Troy is only 21 and it’s going to be a minimum of 6 months, realistically 12-18 months of rehabilitation for Troy, whilst adjusting to his life changing injuries.
I ask if you can please donate to help Troy through this journey and please share this page far and wide.
I ask, as a community, can we pull together to show our support to a man and his son who supported so many of us last year.

3 years agoThis morning Doris and I spoke about putting a post together to update people on Troys condition, as after being moved to Winchester Hospital there had been some small positives but was still in a very bad way. But this evening I'm able to share that Troy was walking today, all be it very slow and shakey, it just shows the strength Troy has. Troy's still got a very long road ahead of him, but the family are happy to share this positive step for Troy.

3 years agoThank you so much to everyone for helping hit the initial target, Troy's family are very grateful for the overwhelming support and kind messages that have been flooding in. Troy's family have given me permission to share via this page that although I can't offer an update on Troy's condition as of yet, I can share that he was stabbed in the stomach, so with that said I've updated the target to £10,000. Again I thank you all and ask you to share this page once again!
