So many people are affected by cancer and to hear last year that one of my oldest friends would be facing the challenge of taking on breast cancer was heart breaking. Sophie continued to smile and carried on working as much as she could whilst undergoing chemo, her determination was amazing and you would never have known what she was going through as she was the loveable, caring and happy Sophie through all the pain.
Last year continued to challenge as Sophie was tested for the BRCA2 gene and after receiving the news that she was positive, she had a double mastectomy in December.
Starting 2018 knowing that the treatment was successful and this was going to be a good year. Until February arrived and Sophie was to have another challenge to face.
My heart sank to hear the awful news that she had a brain tumour, after everything her fight was not yet over. Sophie has undergone many procedures over the last couple of months and I still can't believe what she has had to go through.
Sophie is a self-employed cleaner and an amazing one at that and knowing that once again she has the stress and worry of being unable to work or earn money for her family, led me to create this page. A lovely lady by the name of Anna helped fundraise last year to help relieve the financial pressure and stress, Anna did such an amazing job and it allowed Sophie to focus on her treatment and recovery.
I'm here asking for your help to try and take some stress away from Sophie and her family and if I can raise anything at all it would be amazing.
In support of Sophie and others that have been affected by Cancer, at the beginning of May I will be completing 30km over 3 days challenge; on day 1 I will be hitting the gym to complete 15km on a bike, followed by a 10km skate on the Saturday and finishing with a 5km run on the bank holiday Monday.
I hope we can all come together and help one of the kindest, most amazing ladies that I know.
