    Story

As my son is football mad, he has been fortunate in making so many football memories but we realise there are many other children less fortunate. The Free Kicks Foundation is a charity whose aim is to provide football-related activities for ill, bereaved and disadvantaged children, to give them a day to remember with their favourite football club.
The days out are called ‘Kicks’ and since the foundation started in 2007 they have supported 650 deserving children. The majority of children go along to the matches as Team Mascots. This generally involves a tour of the ground, a new kit, visiting the players in the dressing rooms, a kickabout on the pitch and, of course, leading the team out ahead of kickoff. Every penny they spend on ‘Kicks’ is raised by the foundation or through fundraising.
Some people who know me and my son will also know that the last few years have been challenging. One element of focus for my son has been his football. He has been fortunate to find two amazing local clubs where he has gained many skills for both on and off the pitch.
Priory Celtic U9s and Heanor Juniors U9s are teams run by unpaid coaches whose support goes well and above the role of a sports coach. Whilst small subscriptions are paid the monies generally only cover the basics. This leave little financial support for essential equipment needed.
Most parents of footballer’s will know that it isn’t just a game…it’s a family. By way of thanks to these amazing coaches, players and families for their unconditional support I would like to raise funds that can offer many more children in the community the same opportunities.
On 3rd June 2017, I will be participating in the Ramathon and 23rd September in The Robin Hood Half Marathon. I would be so grateful if you could support my cause. To note - The Free Kicks Foundation will be receiving 50% of the total funds raised, and the rest split between Heanor and Priory.
LIVE LOVE FOOTBALL AND MAKE EVERY CHILDS DREAM COME TRUE
