Story

We are a family of 4 and me and my partner both work but are on low incomes. We collected our new addition in March 2017 and called him dexter. Over the following weeks we noticed he was in pain and so made the trip to the vets where he under went xrays. We were then told the news that he had severe hip dysplasia and will require bilateral hip replacement. We spoke to the Fitzpatrick centre and were told that the cost of this is £7000 per hip. We have pet insurance but the total they will cover per condition per year is £2000. This means that this year they will cover £2000 of one hip but if the other needs to be done before the insurance renews next year we will need to fund the whole amount for the second hip. This will total £12000 for the both hips. Once he has the surgery he will have a new lease of life. The alternative as he ages is unthinkable if we are unable to fund the surgery. We are doinh everything else possible to help him and this includes weekly hydrothetapy sessions to build up his muscles around his joints and also vitamin supplements and an addition of tripe to his diet.
We would appreciate any help as every little donation will take us a step closer to being able to help dexter to gain a new lease of life.
