My son Ben who has sensory processing disorder and is on the spectrum rarely leaves the house and is socially isolated. He finds mixing with people really difficult and school has been a really long struggle for him. Recently he found a place where he feels he fits in. Safe Haven animal zoo help rescue reptiles that have been abandoned or who's owners cannot cope with any longer. Ben loves the reptiles and has decided to venture out of his bedroom and do a sponsored walk, he wants to raise money for the Save Haven centre to help the reptiles he has become so attached to. Ben volunteers on Saturdays and this is his only social activity. He is also proud owner of Mannie his milk snake, 2 beardies, 2 tortoises and a ferret. He spends his time looking after these and this gives him a reason to leave his room. It costs the centre 250 per week just to feed the reptiles and they rely on funding and donations to help them.
