I've raised £1500 to help fund critical cancer treatment

For the last 25 years, Hilary Fowler has dedicated her life to improving the quality of life of less fortunate and primarily, less able children. From helping children with autism and Asperger's Syndrome, to those with visual impairments and the profoundly deaf, setting up support groups, parental advice groups and even football teams within schools and the community, Hilary has been a rock for many children and their families over the years. This has meant, to assist her work with Norfolk County Council Social Services, she has learnt 3 types of sign language and learnt how to read and write Braille, among several other qualifications. All this has led to primary school and secondary school children staying in main stream education, where it had originally seemed this would not be possible, going on to gain their own qualifications and some even progressing to college.
In October 2013, after months of failings of the local health services, Hilary was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, that had spread to the peritoneum. Chemotherapy destroyed the cancer cells and a full hysterectomy was performed. Unfortunately, this year, cancer cells were found back in the original peritoneum site, that should have been removed, during her first operation. Hilary has responded well to further chemotherapy and suffered very little side effects, continuing to lead a relatively active life.
Despite previously responding well, doctors have recently decided that chemotherapy is no longer an option and have halted the treatment, leaving Hilary no choice but to fund any future treatment she may receive through medical trials, potentially abroad.
As a family, we are hoping to raise as much awareness and support as we can, so on 25th September, I will be partaking in a Wing Walk.... My flight to help Hilary's plight!
