    Story

So many of you have witnessed the devastation of recent natural disasters enfold on screen over the past 3 weeks. None is closer to me than the trail of destruction left on my home country of Dominica by Hurricane Maria. The island is the most underpopulated and most undiscovered islands in the world. It's gotten coverage all for the wrong reasons; death, homelessness, and despair. The entire island has been affected.

The island is beautiful and I spent 17 years of my life here and built so many memories. My family and friends still live there. The government are working with international aid organisations to rebuild the country but it will take time and with your donation, I hope to help to make it quicker so we can all visit my island again.

...To support the indigenous people of the Caribbean, experience leather back turtles nesting on protected beaches, to hike up rugged terrain through the Valley of Desolation and onto the Boiling Lake, to dive with humpback whales migrating across the Caribbean sea, and relaxing with some of the friendliest people (like me!)... Dominica is unlike any island you've ever been to. Please help me to bring it back to its former glory.

    Thank you.

The BBC's The One Show have recently made their way to the island. If you needed any motivation to donate, you'll find it here. The full extent of the devastation is evident and honestly, it is even worst than I expected. If you've made it this far, thank you SO MUCH for your generosity. This has proved to be a fine example of friends, colleagues and perfect strangers coming together in the face of adversity. "Those who can, do." Thank you for doing! Rachel

I have so much to be thankful for... I came here at 17 years old and built a tremendous life - but I've never forgotten where I came from. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am Dominican ("not to be confused with Dominican Republic"). Please help me help those in need...
