Twenty members of the RAC Marketing department, based in Bradley Stoke, Bristol, will be undertaking the Three Peaks Challenge mid-June to raise funds for Suicide Prevention UK. We will begin on the 16th June at Ben Nevis in Scotland, making our way south thereafter to climb Scafell Pike and Snowdon - a total of 23 miles walking and 10,052ft climbing, all within a 24 hour period.

SP-UK are the Bradley Stoke offices' chosen charity of the year, an incredible Bristol-based organisation who support locals in mental health crisis both on the phone and with a patrolling outreach team. With the pressure on NHS mental health services ever increasing, the suicide prevention work that SP-UK undertake in our local community is vital, and every penny we raise will go towards assisting individuals who are at risk, and ensuring their safety.

Nearly 800,000 people die by suicide in the world each year, equating to roughly one death by suicide every 40 seconds. SP-UK

Suicide is the most common cause of death for those aged 10-19. SP-UK

But recovery is possible. We hope that in undertaking this challenge we are able to gain a platform from which to openly discuss the subject of suicide and the mental health crises that lead to people finding themselves in positions of such distress. The numbers continue to be worryingly high and in opening and widening the circle of discussion around this historically 'taboo' subject, we believe we can make a difference amongst our colleagues and the wider community.

In the UK, men are three times as likely to die by suicide than women. SP-UK

For every suicide, 25 people make a suicide attempt and many more have serious thoughts of suicide. SP-UK

We thank you graciously for any donations, every penny you're able to spare will help in the continued patrol outreach and telephone support SP-UK are able to provide.

We will keep this page updated with training photos and additional fundraising activities undertaken in the office.
