Story

Hi all! We are doing the inflatable 5k run on 23rd September 2017 in aid of PSPA and the 1930 Fund for District Nurses in loving memory of our dad 😊 Funds shall be divided equally.

Dad was such an inspiration to all that he knew and he touched so many hearts. We deeply miss him and it was so painful to watch him suffer the way he did. Nevertheless he always had a smile on his face and never failed to bring us joy and strength every time we saw him. Even now just thinking of him we are so proud of how he handled his illness so gracefully.

Dad suffered from Alzheimer's and PSP. We are aware that PSP is a disease which is not commonly known. It is a very cruel disease alone without having to suffer it together with Alzheimer's! Therefore we wish to raise awareness and support for others who are suffering (directly and indirectly as friends and family members) by doing this fun 5k run. One of the reasons for doing something fun is to remember to do things which brings a smile on our faces and to maintain a happy and healthy mental life.

We also wish to acknowledge the amazing District Nurses who were with us and dad throughout the journey of his illness. The care, dedication and support over the years was immensely appreciated and we will remain forever grateful! We know that dad would have also have liked to thank them, especially towards the last leg of his journey when together with the care and support from the lovely ladies from the Myton Hospice he was made very comfortable. Thank you so much ladies we hold dear some very cherished memories from that last week.

Please read about the effects of PSP ( https://www.pspassociation.org.uk ) and about the history behind the charity for district nurses (http://www.1930fundfornurses.org/ )and help us to raise as much as possible so that together we can help others!
