Story

As part of my year of change I have decided to swim the Channel! Now I don't plan on going to Dover but instead I will be swimming the 22 miles distance in my local pool. That's 1416 lengths.

Donations for this challenge will be split between Water Aid and a community project Katumba.

WaterAid:

We are very blessed to live in a country where all the water we use is clean and usable. Even the waste water we use is miles cleaner than the drinking water millions around the world have access to. Water Aid has teams in 34 countries across the world, working with partners to transform millions of lives every year by improving access to clean water, toilets and hygiene.

Katumba:

This is a Brazilian drumming group I have been a part of since 2015. I get so much out of being a part of the group for my physical and mental health.

Below is some words on why we are in need of some funding:

Our trusty van, which delivers us and our hefty collection of drums to performances, workshops and fundraisers is now in need of major and immediate repair. As a not for profit organisation, all our income is reinvested back into the project, and whilst we can contribute in parts, it is too expensive for even our emergency reserves to cover. Without our van, sadly we cannot continue to function. But with your help, we can keep on doing it!

What we do: through our drumming & movement we improve the health & wellbeing of our 100 members on a weekly basis; perform & help fundraise for a number of charities; impact positively the hundreds of children and young people who take part in our school workshops; deliver our musical therapy sessions to stroke survivors, people living in mental health distress, to mention a few.
