Story
The previous JustGiving page raised £2,025, please help us continue to hit our target!
Following my Heart Transplant in July 2024 I would like to say a very special thank you to everyone for your help & support during this long & difficult journey of survival, I could not have done it without you.
In particular, to donors & their families who make lifesaving decisions in the most tragic & difficult circumstances, enabling others to live after the loss of their loved ones via organ donation.
Also to the Freeman Heart & Lung Transplant Centre & their multidisciplinary team who perform lifesaving operations with dedication & exceptional aftercare & support for transplant survivors & their families.
Just as important is my family who are always there for me. With the help & support of them we are hoping to raise funds for the Transplant Centre as a thank you. The money raised will contribute to helping others in need of life-saving transplant treatment.
We have planned to take on the following challenges:-
At the end of September, I am taking on the challenge of my 1st triathlon in over 25 years. I will be joined by my husband, son & partner and brother all of whom have never taken on the challenge of triathlon. We will take a circular route from home via country roads, lakes & fells & cycle, run/walk & swim/dip in one of the lakes on route and our anticipated time is 2/3 hrs.
On 13th & 14th June my mother & father in law Marilyn (83) and husband Jim Pickthall (84) are planning to walk from Cockermouth to Whitehaven, taking a circuitous route of approximately 25 miles via all the homes where they have lived in West Cumbria.
My sister-in-law, Lin Dodd who works for the King's Trust in Workington, is arranging a fundraising event with the students she works with as part of their course and this will also take place in June.
Please support this vital, lifesaving fundraising event.
Any donations will be much appreciated either through the just giving link or to any family members.
Every life matters. Every heart needs to beat. Every penny counts.
Look after your hearts.
Are you a donor? Without donors loved ones are lost.
Thank you very much everyone from all of us.
Sandra & Family.
