Story
My aim is to deliver a series of workshops in Indian schools that tackle the pressing problem of gendered violence and abuse. My project is called Raising Respect and it borne out of the belief that all young men in India can become ambassadors for the rights of women and girls, and that this has the potential to transform communities. I am aware that equality for women and girls cannot hope to be achieved without encouraging boys and men to be an active part of that movement, and am hopeful about the societal change that can be brought about by supporting boys to recognise and challenge abusive behaviour.
This campaign is to fund the pilot project in four schools in Hoshiarpur, which includes salaries for eight people, the space required to host the training and a School Liaison Officer who will coordinate the activities and help us get schools on board with the project.
