Story

Local couple Graham and Linsay Gartshore welcomed baby Frankie into the world on 4th December 2018. He is pictured here with his 3 year old brother Rudy.

Shortly after Frankie was born he became seriously unwell and was diagnosed with a rare immune deficiency condition called ADA SCID.

This is a life threatening condition and Frankie is currently in Edinburgh Sick Kids Hospital within a sterile unit to keep him safe from virus and infection. The condition can be treated but requires a bone marrow transplant and lengthy specialist care if a matching donor can be found.

This treatment can only be carried out at hospitals in Newcastle and London, which means both parents staying in accomodation at the designated hospital away from home at their expense for at least 3 months.

Graham is a former Norton House and Glenrothes Junior Football Club footballer where friends, ex players and collegues are organising a fund raising charity match at Warout Stadium on Sunday 24th March to help support the family during the next few crucial months.
