Story

Let me tell you about Ramana's Garden and why I am raising funds to help them.

During a visit to Rishikesh in northern India in October 2016, my business colleague Cathy Richardson was deeply touched by the poverty and plight of the children at Ramana’s Garden, a very loving and welcoming place for children rescued from the most dire situations.

Life is bleak for these children from the outset. Most are orphans, some have been subjected to terrible physical and sexual abuse, rescued from trafficking or abandoned by parents who are themselves destitute.

At Ramana’s Garden, they find love, safety, security, education and hope. Not only does Dwaba, the inspirational American woman who founded the orphanage, give the children a home, she gives them hope

There is a thriving school, and community projects aimed at empowering the local women into creating crafts for sale so that they can feed their children and stand strong in a patriarchal and very often, abusive society.

Cathy and I are working together to help raise funds for Ramana's garden and have organised a conference on 15th October - The Whole Woman Conference . 100% of the monies raised goes to the children and the women.

For people who cannot attend the conference and would like to support us in raising funds, please make a donation - every penny helps.

Thank you for your support and donations. Please view The Whole Woman Conference website where there is more information about Ramana's garden, the conference and why we are supporting this charity.

Ramana's Garden Children's Home is a registered UK Charity: SC045974 under the name of Children of Ramana's Tartan Ties.

Address: Ramana’s Tartan Ties, Teviotdale, Touch Road, Cambusbarron, FK7 9NL.
