Story
Last year I spoke to a friend about wanting to set my self a personal challenge, may be a 10k run or a bike ride to Brighton. A few days later she rung me and said how about going to Peru 🇵🇪 and doing the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, not knowing what that involved I said YES let’s do it !!!!
Machu Picchu is an Incan citadel set high in the Andes Mountains in Peru, above the Urubamba River valley. On the 9th of May we embark on our adventure to Peru, were we will be doing a four day trek.
The charity I have nominated to help raise funds is for Harry who has cerebral palsy. Please donate to help Harry
Harrys Story ...... Harry was born two months premature and a routine brain scan during his time in the neonatal intensive care unit it was discovered he had an upper motor neuron lesion. This falls under the umbrella of cerebral palsy.
Harry has been having physio since he was six months old and two years ago Harry's parents were introduced by a friend at one of his groups to Health in Motion based in Toronto, Canada.
Harry's parents managed to self-fund an initial trip out there for 4 weeks of intensive re-education therapy and the results were amazing. Harry can now, from a laying position get up into a sitting position, and then transfer onto his knees and then up into crawling and he can crawl. This was a little boy who could only sit for a few seconds unaided and would 'commando crawl' everywhere, dragging his legs behind him as they just wouldn't work.
After just one 4 week therapy session at Health in Motion Harry can crawl around all by himself, and can stay sitting up to play as any normal child should do.
Harry has now attended the clinic in Canada 4 times and his progress has been so good he is now attending main-stream school.
Due to the successful trips to Canada Harry is now able to walk short distances with the use of a specialised walking frame, However because Harry is now in mainstream school he can no longer miss 8 weeks of school to attend the clinic in Canada and Harry's parents have found the Freddy Farmer Foundation based in Kent which can continue his intensive physiotherapy during school holidays.
Harry is booked in to the Freddy Farmer Foundation for four weeks in the summer holidays and the money raised will go towards supporting the trips to this new center.
Harry also enjoys getting out and about seeing his friends and would like to have his own specially modified bike to ride in the park with them and any donations can be put towards getting Harry his own bike/trike so he can ride with his friends when they go out.
If you would like to follow Harry’s progress you can find him on FB ( helping and following harry ) .
THANK YOU SO MUCH, LOVE AND HUGS RAGS X X
