Story
A group of staff from Ravenswood School were planning to run the Bristol 10k this Sunday (3rd May 2020) to raise funds for our new sports hall building project.
Due to the coronavirus and lockdown situation, the event has been cancelled but a number of staff are planning to get active (individually) from their own homes on Sunday by walking, running or cycling to cover a collective distance of 250km.
We will not give up trying to do the best for our students; our school remains open for some pupils and staff are trying their best either in school or working remotely to look after our pupils.
As a staff team, we remain committed to raising funds for our big project- a new sports hall.
Even with limited facilities, the school has seen great success with supporting pupils' all round development through providing a physical and practical curriculum. The school now wishes to develop their sporting opportunities for the future.
We have identified that building a new sports hall would be key to this continued success for our pupils and would also benefit the wider curriculum.
Ravenswood School has received a gold School Games Mark for the past three years - highlighting its commitment to the development of competition across the school.
We want our pupils to thrive here at school and have more opportunities to develop their skills and love of sport and exercise.
This could be an opportunity for our pupils to learn about the leisure industry and to run the sports hall for our local community groups as part of their developing their employability skills. We aim for this to become a huge opportunity for pupils to learn more about a range of roles including customer service, leisure/sports leadership and catering in a real life, practical setting.
