I'm competing in a charity boxing match on the 13th May and raising funds for the charity Kanlungan.

In 2022, my mental and physical health was at all-time low. It was affecting my ability to work and life felt like a struggle. I started boxing in December of last year and trained for 3 months before my fight in March. Obviously, my fitness increased but also the immense mental pressure of training myself to get in the ring in front of 2,000 people and give it my all, and fight for 3 rounds really pushed me beyond anything I ever thought I was capable of. I dropped from 90kg to 74kg in just 3 months and was the happiest and most confident I've ever felt. I won the fight that night and it was probably one of the toughest challenges I've ever faced.

I've signed up for another fight with the White Collar Fight Club on the 13th May. I wanted to continue the momentum of my fitness and mental health journey and continue making progress with refining my boxing ability. They're a charity that has been serving the Filipino and the entire East & South East Asian migrant community for over 25 years now. As a Filipino who grew up in the UK, I experienced racism from a young age. I was never too proud of being Filipino and just wanted to fit in and be 'normal'. It's now seeing the amazing work Kanlungan do for the migrant community offering services to help educate and strengthen the Filipino and ESEA community that makes them one very close to my heart.
