As some of you know, my beloved Cousin Andrew Raymond Watts (DJ Ray Andrews) passed away Saturday 15th December @ 3:30am. He had been diagnosed with Cancer of the bladder back in 2014 and as a result he had both his bladder and prostate removed. He then underwent Chemotherapy for many years but was then diagnosed with terminal cancer in July of this year. In August, Ray went back into hospital suffering with severe pain, he found out the cancer had indeed spread to his bones and later his spine. After a short stay in hospital Ray came home. But quickly returned to hospital after contracting sepsis. This, combined with the rapid progression of his cancer, Ray sadly passed away at home surrounded by the people he loved.

While Ray faced this emotional journey, in and out of hospital on a weekly basis he did it with the greatest of strength, still smiling and courageously living his life to the full, doing what he loved best. Bringing music and fun to the people of Portsmouth and the surrounding areas. Ray did not stop, he continued to drive his taxi until he was no longer legally allowed. Ray continued to DJ in numerous venues, entertaining the crowds into the early hours Friday and Saturday nights. Including hosting the final Bandstand in September 2018 on the common.

It is very important to me and his family to carry out all of his wishes in his memory. Nikita, Dan and his mum Doreen are planning his funeral arrangements and as soon as they have full details they will share this to everyone so we can all say our goodbyes and come together to celebrate Ray’s passion for life. As part of his final wishes, Ray asked for his ashes to be taken to his most favourite place, Thailand. His beloved wife Payong and his forever devoted children, Nikita and Dan would love to make his wishes come true but they are in need of a little help.

I am hoping that between us Ray’s family, his friends and DJ family we could help them out at this sad time. They have a lot to arrange what with the funeral, wake and a trip over to Thailand and if we could all chip in it would make life a little easier as they morn their Son, Dad, Husband, Brother and Granddad.

Your contribution would go towards the cost of Rays funeral, the celebrations of his life after (wake) and their travel costs to Thailand. If there is anything left Nikita and Dan would like to donate it to cancer research in memory of our dearest, most loved Ray! ❤️
