Story
Monty – Our Houdini Husky
Three months ago we rescued this amazing Husky-X German Shepherd boy, of just 1 year old, to offer him his first taste of “Freedom from a Chain on a Kennel’ and the opportunity of a family life in our loving home. His taste for freedom unveiled his cow herding and escape artist skills. However his last ‘Houdini Act’ on 25th July has claimed his mobility after he ran into a truck and run out of Monty Magic!
Just a few months ago a friend asked if we would be interested in giving this lovely boy a chance to live in the countryside in a family home and join our pack. His previous owners acknowledged they could not offer him sufficient companionship in the home or exercise. People said “we were mad” to take him on and trust him around our young children, which we seriously deliberated over. However we had to meet him and trusted our immediate instincts, we were drawn by his hypnotic magnetic spell as he had the most amazing, loveable, gentle yet energetic personality. Monty very quickly proved to be an incredibly caring, protective and loyal member of our family, with three young children, which he loves to be around.
Although he first enjoyed eating our conservatory sofa, garden trampoline, and to our toddlers amusement her toys, yet his love of family life has meant he has learnt quickly to respect our home and trust.
Since his accident he has been a resident of Hampden Vetinary Hospital in Aylesbury, who have given him affectionate, careful nursing and skillfully carried out leg pinning for broken bones and extensive skin grafts.
We are appealing for donations to help cover the costs of getting his mobility back after his accident. We desperately need help to raise funds towards our vet bills which are already over £3,000. Further costs accruing over next 3 months for recovery plan for bi-daily vet visits for bandage changes, under sedation initially and all appropriate antibiotics and pain killers. As a family we are fully commited to any prescribed plan to ensure he regains full mobility and enjoys the freedom and enjoyment of the life he deserves!!
