I've raised £3500 to support the NHS during the Covid-19 outbreak, by inviting the Reading Blue Coat community to join together in a sporting challenge.

NHS staff and volunteers are doing amazing work caring for COVID-19 patients. Taking place from Monday 11th to Sunday 17th May 2020, in the spirit of Lands End to John O'Groats challenges, the Blue Coat community are covering the 1,406 km between the West Cornwall NHS Hospital in Penzance and Dunbar NHS Hospital in Scotland to do our part and raise funds for the NHS. All funds raised will go to areas of immediate need at the Royal Berkshire Hospital (RBH) and the West Cornwall NHS hospital.
At the RBH, one area they are focusing on is how to further support patients well-being during this very difficult time, especially with the strict restrictions on visiting. They need financial aid to purchase items for ‘well-being bags’ that include a selection of basic toiletries such as toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, shampoo, shower gel etc., along with activity books and pens/pencils to help keep minds active. They are also hoping to provide a supply of leisure wear. With loved ones not being able to visit, many patients only have their hospital gowns to wear, and although ideal for when they are in bed, as their health improves patients are encouraged to get dressed and out of bed as this is known to aid recovery. It is also needed for those patients needing to undergo physiotherapy.
Thank you for helping us raise much needed funds for the NHS to continue the incredible work they are doing during the current pandemic in supporting patients as the example above outlines.
Have fun, stay safe and don't forget to follow the efforts of the community on the School's facebook and twitter pages.
Thank you for your support.
