    Story

Our wonderful sister & auntie Rachel is a 49 year old single mother of two lovely young boys aged 8 and 14. We come from a family of nine children (six girls and three boys) and Rach has always been very active and healthy and lets be honest, a bit of a milf!. She is an extremely determined strong woman with a positive outlook on life and doesn't let anything get her down.

She's always been extremely vigilant in checking herself for lumps, bumps or any changes in her breasts. She often gets cysts that come and go so will keep an eye on them but they usually come and go... Until last August '17.

The doctor suggested she had it looked at and referred her to a specialist.

They did an ultrasound and it was diagnosed as a cyst. It bothered her throughout the winter months and then as she had a routine mammogram in February '18 it picked up that she had calcifications in that cyst (a build up of calcium) so they decided to do a biopsy.

The biopsy then showed that it was cancer.

Since then she's had a lumpectomy and two lymph nodes removed and is awaiting more surgery and is now going through radiotherapy.

Rachel is a full time working mother and every penny she earns goes on providing for her and her two boys. Apart from the money she earns working full time she has no other source of income, no working tax credits, no housing benefit, not even child maintenance!

She plans to carry on working throughout the treatment and a lot of people rely on her but we all know that there will be times where she may not be able to get out of bed and the treatment will make her incredibly ill.

Her family and friends will all be there with her every step of the way, visiting, making meals, helping with the boys, going to radiotherapy appointments and offering constant emotional and physical support.

So the reason for this page is for us to try and ease the pressure off Rachel by trying to raise as much as we can to help her through the unknown of the next few months. To do this we will both be donating our hair to the Little Princess Trust so they can make wigs out of our hair for children.

The donation of our hair will be broadcast live on Instagram and Facebook - a link will be posted on all our pages so you can see it as it happens, the date is TBC but we will keep you updated on when this will be.

Funds raised will be split 50/50 between Rachel and WOMEN V CANCER.

    Thank you for your support.

We felt it was no longer appropriate to shave our heads BUT we will both be donating our hair to the Little Princess Trust so that they can use our hair to create wigs for children who will loose their hair through treatment for cancer. Please keep an eye out for updates on the page, my hair needs a bit more growing before i can cut it off, but it will be done, i promise! Thank you all xxx

Hello everyone! We are ever so grateful for your donations so far and all you support and well wishes to Rach and the family. Since starting our fundraising we have had some great news in the fact that Rach won't be needing chemotherapy which means she won't be loosing her hair! However she still needs to go through weeks/months of radiotherapy and possibly more surgery and she is currently having to take a lot of time off work and after treatment has been feeling lethargic and poorly.
