Story

RC Vision is a social venture working to use the sport of radio control car racing to support education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The need for engineers is growing in the UK. The skills gap is a drain on the economy, and our collective future depends on innovation and technology to solve crises from carbon capture to ai.

RC Vision is a collective of engineers, employers, charitable foundations, activists and educators who believe a new diverse generation of STEM professionals is key to the future of our economy - driving innovation, the economy and community wellbeing.

Our aim is to engage 3,000 young people from underserved communities in RC racing, positively impacting their STEM skills, aspirations and wellbeing.

The venture draws on evidence from The Hamilton Commission the APPG on Diversity in STEM , the work of Professor Bill Lucas on creativity and engineering habits of mind, the Royal Academy of Engineering regarding the implications for education, the YESTEM work on equitable learning, evidence regarding the value and importance of informal learning, and the role of careers guidance in social mobility.

We are seeking £6,000 of public support to find RC eqipment for 7-11 children in primary schools. The funds will also help unlock £80,000 of social finance investment over the next two years to build a permenant facility delivering free access to RC based learning and racing.

£20 will buy a body shell for a child to learn about aerodynamics.

£50 will buy an electric motor for a child to learn about power.

£200 will buy a complete RC set up for a child to build test and race.

Thank you for your donation. Thank you for working towards a more equitable future for our young people.
