About Us:

Reading Ultimate caters for all abilities becoming one of the biggest clubs in the UK fielding several teams in all divisions. Our club ethos has been paying dividends for the last few years: European bronze and SOTG (Spirit of the Game) winners (2015), European gold and SOTG winners (2016), European bronze (2017)

We want the WUCC (World Ultimate Club Championships) experience to have a positive impact on the whole club with club players invited to WUCC trainings as well as high expectations for the squad to give back to Reading Ultimate. We are aiming to drive juniors, women and beginner development in the Reading area alongside the Worlds goals.

Ultimate is a non-professional sport with funding for training, tournaments and travel entirely supported by the players.

Why we need the money:

We’re proud to be representing Reading Ultimate on the greatest stage however, it does come at a considerable cost; £2600 per player. We are looking for donations to alleviate some of the player costs as well as fund long term club development projects:

70% of funds will go to the WUCC players

Costs per person:

30% of funds:

The Club will also receive 30% of the overall donations to be spent on 3 major development targets: Junior Development, Women Development and Club Development.

Junior Development:

Money will be spent on: Targeting Reading schools with free coaching and free discs (£250 per school), subsidised tournament entry fees, hosting Junior South East Cup (£600), subsidised kit, subsidised insurance, advertising.

Women Development:

Money will be spent on: Subsidies for tournaments including international, indoor venue subsidies reducing women only training costs, advertising, taster days for companies

Beginner Development:

Money will be spent on: Enabling players to get coaching qualifications, subsidies for beginners and Reading University students: training and tournaments, advertising, taster days for companies

The Team:

We are all delighted to be representing Reading Ultimate on the world stage in July 2018. Here’s the squad list:

Amelia Kenneth , Ania Godbold , Avril Hunter , Bex Palmer , Erin McGready , Georgina Morrison , Helen Roberts , Katie Armstrong , Rachel Naden , Serena de Nahlik , Tereza Menclova , Alastair McNeill , Andy Lewis , Ben Withers , Ben Wilson , Graham Byford , Harry Mason , Jack Lynch , Jamie Rabbetts , Joe Brown , Lawrence Hill, Maks Tobiasiewicz , Mark Bignal , Matt Bolton , Sam Gunbie. Physio: Andy Watt.

What’s Ultimate Frisbee:

Ultimate is a growing team sport and we’re playing in the mixed division. The sport is played without referees including on the world stage: it requires the players to know and implement the rules resolving any conflict amicably through Spirit of the Game. It creates a great on pitch atmosphere where teams compete for victory but not at the detriment of basic enjoyment of playing.

Ultimate is a fast paced game where a team passes the disc up the pitch to score in an endzone without the defense intercepting passes. It requires athleticism and great disc skills. It’s a beautiful sport to watch.
