Story

On Saturday 25th August Chris Miller from the Isle of Wight will be running (and maybe jogging or walking!) 100Km to raise money for this charity which works in the slums of Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

He is helping to raise £2,000 which will be used to equip our new Teaching and Encouraging Centre. (Chris is kindly funding the run himself, so every penny raised will go directly to fund this project)

Having been established as a registered charity for 18 months now we are moving to a new and bigger building next to the slum in which we work.

We are needing to equip this with tables, chairs, a projector, a whiteboard, fans and computers.

We will also need stationary and wallcharts.

HELPING HAND CAMBODIA'S STORY:

After spending two years as missionaries in Cambodia we decided to start this charity which enables people to sponsor children from the slums of Phnom Penh, Cambodia to go to a good school and get

a good education and therefore move on in life and out of the slums. A good education is the only way out of the slums for these children and by offering them this opportunity to take their future in their own hands.

We also offer a scheme to support families with rice each month.

Over a short period of time we have seen the charity grow (we now sponsoring nearly 30 children) and are excited to be moving to our

new premises in September as well as having our Cambodian Coordinator, Chanthy Chen, begin working full time for us.
