Story

As many of you know our Mum, Theresa Head, was in a car accident in October 2006 and was unfortunatly left paralysed from the waist down. Over the last few years our Mum has been through a lot, including losing her ability to swallow and her weight plummeting to under 6 stone and we were told that she wasn't going to make it and we should say our goodbyes, she is also catheterised and her wheelchair has to be adapted for this too. Mum spent 4 years being PEG fed, and slowly her weight began to increase. Thankfully Mum relearnt to eat a couple of years ago and the PEG was removed. Due to this Mum has put on weight (which is great), but the wheelchair she was given back then was made for the size she was then. Which means the wheelchair she has now is too small for her.

The Wheelchair services have agreed for Mum to get a new adapted wheelchair for her size now, however, with me having left home, Mum struggles with everyday things we take for granted, including reaching her shelves and cupboards in the kitchen. Mum is able to get further adaptions on her new wheelchair, which will rise up, so she can reach things on her own, however, this does come at a cost.

We are asking for people to donate in order to help us raise this money, to further Mum's independance and improve her quality of life even further. Mum has come so far since the accident, especially with us all being told to say goodbye on several occassions over the last 10 years. It doesn't have to be a lot as every little helps.

Thank you
